- Thanks to all who generously donated a total of $2,317 for November 5th’s Minister’s Choice Share the Plate to help the victims affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico!
- And thank you to all who joined us for the Immigration and Sanctuary Worship Service November 12. We heard from Adriana Guzman at Faith in Action about local Sanctuary and Rapid Response efforts and from Thomas Atwood, Macrina Mota, and Martha Ortega of Fools Mission about the impact of the accompaniment work with local immigrant families. Reverend Valerie Duecker of the Congregational Church of San Mateo (CCSM) talked about the partnership with UUSM, together hosting two transgender women who are refugees from Central America. The women are members of the Rainbow Caravan who turned themselves in to the Border Patrol in Texas seeking asylum from the violence and persecution in their home countries. Reverend Valerie also led us in the blessing of the Sanctuary Banner, which we will hang in the Social Hall above the Social Action Committee table. And thanks to all who stayed for the Sharing Circle afterwards.
- Also thanks to Debbie Mytels and the facilitators and volunteers who hosted the “On the Table” potluck November 15, and facilitated discussion about local housing and transportation issues.
Please come to our Social Action Committee meetings the first Sunday at noon in the Back Lounge. The next meeting is December 3. All are welcome!
