Share the Plate with Unlocked Futures on October 18

Unlocked Futures is a Redwood City-based nonprofit supporting youth and families impacted by the juvenile justice and foster care systems. Founded and led by people with lived experience in the juvenile justice system, we understand how poverty, trauma, school pushout, and a lack of support can leave young people struggling without the help they need—and how quickly they can become caught in systems that can alter the course of their lives.

We meet children and families where they are. We provide food, clothing, housing and rent assistance, transportation, and other basic support when it is needed most. We pair that immediate help with mentorship, court advocacy, strengths-based case management, educational support, family engagement, and reentry services. We help them navigate complex systems to ensure they have what they need to build successful lives and do not slip through the cracks.

Sometimes what stands between a young person and a crisis is something as basic as a safe place to sleep, food for the week, a ride to school, or an adult who keeps showing up. Unlocked Futures works to provide both the immediate help a young person or family needs today and the relationships and support that can help build a different future.

UUFRC has been a valued partner in our work. Your continued support through Share the Plate is critical to helping us continue to show up for our young people and their families when they need us most.

Online donations can be made from Friday through Tuesday using link https://www.uufrc.org/community/giving/ and writing “Share the Plate” in the memo line. Please make donations via charitable giving accounts (e.g. Donor Advisory Funds) payable to “UUFRC” and put the Share the Plate recipient name in the memo line. On the Sunday of the collection, all donations, unless otherwise specified, go to Share the Plate.
