Share the Plate with Sonrisas Dental Health on November 19

Sonrisas Dental Health is a non-profit dental center dedicated to providing access to quality dental care and oral health education to our community, working to improve the health of our community members through culturally sensitive, integrated care, with a focus on disease prevention. 75% of patient visits at Sonrisas serve low-income individuals and we offer an income-based Affordable Sliding Scale Plan as well as accepting Medi-Cal. There is a waitlist of 2 to 4 years in SMC clinics for adult patients with Medi-Cal to have preventative dental care.

The relationship between oral health and overall health is well documented. We strive to help our patients reach and maintain oral health – something that is a struggle for many low income individuals. We provide oral health screenings and care coordination for children and education for their parents, to help break the generational cycle of poor oral health. We will be screening over 3000 children in priority schools in San Mateo County – including Roosevelt and Hoover and more in the RWC school district.

Donations can be made from the Friday before the service through the Tuesday following the service, using PayPal link and writing “Share the Plate” in the memo line. On the Sunday of the collection, all donations, unless otherwise specified, go to Share the Plate. We appreciate anything you can give to help us provide healthcare equity for our neighbors in Redwood City!
