Share the Plate with HIP Housing on Sunday, December 20

HIP Housing is the recipient for December’s Share the Plate offering, and it’s a great opportunity to help support affordable housing in San Mateo County. Chris Sturken is a Community Outreach Specialist at HIP and will be joining us during the Zoom service to talk about what HIP offers to the community.

HIP Housing empowers families and individuals in San Mateo County to live happier, more independent and self-sufficient lives through innovative housing and mentoring programs that help break the cycle of poverty and end homelessness. Through its unique Home Sharing, Self Sufficiency and Property Development programs, HIP has been serving our county for more than 40 years.

HIP is committed to creatively using resources that already exist in our community. Through the Home Sharing program, empty rooms can be put to good use providing safe housing. HIP helps facilitate great relationships between home seekers and home providers. With their Property Development and Management, HIP preserves existing affordable housing in perpetuity. That works keeps housing affordable and allows people to stay here near their jobs rather than being pushed out by rising prices. There are also some really exciting projects coming up where HIP is partnering with developers to build new affordable housing.

Donations can be made from Friday 12/18 to Tuesday 12/22 using PayPal link https://www.uufrc.org/connection/donate/ and writing “Share the Plate” in the memo line. On Sunday, December 20, all donations, unless otherwise specified, go to Share the Plate.

Thank you for your support!
