Order of Service

People and societies across cultures and time have always considered the concept of beauty – appreciating it, creating it, nurturing it. The transcendentalists among others saw one kind of beauty, in nature, as a window to the sacred.  Our efforts to own, preserve or spread beauty have sometimes led to narcissism or conflict.  But what if we didn’t ask whether something is beautiful or not, but rather what is it that beauty is helping us to hear?  What if beauty is here to make us wise?  This service explores connections between beauty and wisdom from different faith and artistic histories and through the lived experience of UUFRC members.
