from the President of the Board of Trustees, Robert Holden

Greetings from the Board of Trustees (BoT)!

Our house of worship and community is buzzing with activity and energy these days. Rev. Gretchen’s “Tree of Life” and “Listening Circles” were well attended and, at least I thought, very enlightening. I have learned more about our history and culture in the last few months than what I picked up in the previous seven or so years.

The UUFRC held its annual Silent Auction October 21st. This annual event is the second largest contributor to our annual income (second only to the Pledge Drive). Kudos to Jessica Roybal and Jennifer BahrDavidson for organizing it. The evening rolled out smoothly, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and proceeds from the Auction appear to have surpassed projections.

Revenues from the Silent Auction and Pledge Drive provide the vast majority of funds that keep our building maintained and doors open, pay the salaries of Rev. Gretchen and other staff members, fund our Religious Education and Music programs, and allow services to occur every Sunday. Chris Stovall and Jo Mutch are conducting our Pledge Drive this year. Thank you to them for taking on such an important role. Their efforts will ramp up after the New Year.

The BoT periodically holds “Talk with the Board” discussions for anyone interested in meeting BoT Members, asking them questions, sharing points of view with them, or expressing priorities for the Fellowship. The BoT will be holding our next discussion on Sunday, November 19th before services from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. in the Front Lounge. Please join us.

With hope for the future and appreciation of efforts given,

Bob Holden
President – UUFRC Board of Trustees
