In November I taught our “Getting to Know UUFRC” class. One of the topics we covered was membership. I shared that “Your membership is a relationship with this church, and relationships don’t thrive without putting in time, energy and caring.
”I’ve continued to think about this, and realize, of course, that you don’t have to be a member for this statement to be true. Each of us has a relationship with this Fellowship. Each of us is here for a reason, searching for something that couldn’t be found on our own, whether spiritual truths, community, social justice work or other reasons.
Are you finding what you are searching for? What time, thought, and energy are you putting into this relationship to fulfill the reasons you are here? Sunday services are a beginning, but to go deeper takes more time and commitment.
I whole-heartedly encourage you to take your journey to a deeper level by exploring and getting involved in that which would bring you joy here. Our mission at UUFRC is to: Weave a community of compassion and joy, giving us strength and hope, support the spiritual journeys we take together and alone, and to work to create a better world by reaching out, taking risks, and building relationships beyond our walls.
It’s a special time to be here. Our Interim Minister, Rev. Gretchen Woods, is leading our Fellowship in exploring and defining who we are, and where we want to go in preparation for our next search for a settled minister. The work of doing this exploring also applies to our personal lives. This work is all of our work!
Join your heart, hands and mind in the work of this Fellowship and I know you will learn about your own potential and what you have to offer the world, and thus to yourself and others.
With gratitude for each of you and what you bring to this community, Cindy
