Nominate Candidates for UUFRC Share the Plate by Sunday, April 28

Are you looking to raise the profile of your favorite charity? The Social Action Committee will hold an election in May to choose 10 organizations to receive a ‘Share the Plate’ collection in the coming year: July 2024 through June 2025. 

To be eligible for Share The Plate, your organization must have 501(c)3 tax-exempt status and the nominator (you) must have some kind of personal involvement with the organization (member, volunteer, financial supporter, etc.). If your organization is chosen, you will be the “Sponsor”. The Sponsor, with support from the Share The Plate Coordinator, helps publicize the Share The Plate presentation and coordinates details of the presentation with the organization’s Speaker and that Sunday’s Worship Team.

How to nominate your favorite worthy organization for a special collection at UUFRC: Write a paragraph of 150 words or less describing the organization and email it to UUFRC’s Share The Plate Coordinator (sharetheplate@uufrc.org), by Sunday, April 28.  (Please ask your computer to count the words.)  It helps to tell the charitable purposes of the organization and your own involvement with it.  Both UUFRC members and friends are eligible to nominate organizations. Based upon prior experience, it is best to nominate one charity, but we don’t have a rule prohibiting more. To provide more information to our congregation, you might also want to include your organization’s web address. 

Our congregation has been very generous every year, giving donations ranging from hundreds to many thousands of dollars on Share-the-Plate Sundays. Your favorite organization can surely benefit from an infusion of funds, not to mention the knowledge that their work is valued.
