7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The Learning Journey and Youth and Family Committee are sponsoring a life skills course next year, “Supporting and Enhancing Couple and Family Relationships.” The class will be offered by UUFRC member, Barbara White, Ph.D. It will be an in-person course so parents can get to know each other better and create a more supportive community in which to raise and launch their children.
This spring we are inviting all parents to attend a brief online meeting where Barbara will present the tentative curriculum she is preparing and hear from parents what they would like to see in the course.
During the past couple of years, we have all realized the need to adapt ourselves and our partnerships to new challenges and conditions. In this course we will have the opportunity to:
Discover what makes a marriage strong, happy, and successful, despite external pressures.
Understand how intimate partnerships are affected by raising a family.
Develop new perspectives and learn how to warm up and enhance our partnerships.
Recognize the challenges that arise at different stages of parenting.
Build a lasting foundation by managing these challenges over time.
Learn how living our UU values helps us strengthen our relationships.
The course will be presented in six 90-minute sessions, two weeks apart from February through April 2023. The format will provide for interaction between couples and partners offering opportunities to exchange ideas, provide support, and generate new perspectives.
If you are interested in attending the spring meeting, please email Barbara as soon as possible at: firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate which online session you would like to attend. Please cc Lillian Svec at email@example.com and Julia Mogilev at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Note from Lillian: Barbara offered a pilot course with some of this material in winter 2021. Feedback from participants was very positive and they asked for more. She has done further course development and is interested in learning more about your needs as she prepares to offer a more robust version.
I hope you’ll consider taking the time to learn more about what she’s planning and giving her your feedback.
