With the desire to create as healthy an environment as possible for all participants, Children and Youth Religious Education (RE) will be outside this fall. RE will celebrate being back together as a community, teach UU Identity and Values, and provide time for relationship building and having fun.
The Grades 4th-8th class will be based on the Brave New World Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum created by the Choose Love Movement to help students re-entering school this fall after pandemic disruptions. Topics covered include: post traumatic growth, growth mindset, self awareness, self regulation, and mindfulness. The October 31 class will celebrate Halloween. December classes will have Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, and Christmas themes.
Their outdoor classroom is the front lawn by the Wayside Pulpit sign on Brewster street. Please drop your kids off before going into the sanctuary. New this fall, we’re asking you to sign your children in and out at their outdoor classroom space.
Classes will be held every Sunday through December 19, 10:30 am to 11:30 am. No classes will be held on November 21 and 28 due to Thanksgiving break. No Classes will be held December 26 and January 2 due to Winter break.
Class will be canceled when a 60% or greater chance of rain is forecast for 10:30-11:30 am or if the AQI is 101 or above (orange or higher) at 8:00 a.m. that morning.
