The school-to-prison pipeline is a trap for too many of San Mateo’s children. You can help to change this pattern. Your first step is to meet Paul Bocanegra.
Paul is an expert in juvenile justice reform advocacy. He is a trusted community leader who can talk this talk because he has walked this walk himself. When he was 17, he was sentenced to life without parole for being in the car when a crime was committed by someone else. He served 25 years in prison, 12 of those in solitary confinement. Now, he works to give young people a chance at a productive life. Paul is a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, a Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commissioner for San Mateo County, and a personal mentor. He is a member of the LatinX Advisory Committee to Senator Josh Becker. See Paul’s videos here.
Spend an hour with Paul Bocanegra to discover how you can improve our children’s lives. Hosted by UU San Mateo and UU Fellowship Redwood City.
