Cottage Meetings (virtual) – Find out about Fixin’ San Mateo County! (FixinSMC.org) before the vote to support at the May 22 Annual Meeting!
Fixin’ SMC is a non-partisan, non-profit organization supported by the Social Action Committee, which is seeking the support of the full congregation.
Why? Among other alarming issues, Black people are arrested at 9 times the rate of White people in our county, and Hispanic people at twice the rate. The goal of Fixin’ San Mateo County is to establish a Community Oversight Board and Inspector General to increase:
– Community and law enforcement dialogue and understanding
– Transparency
– Accountability when extreme measures are taken without cause
– Better use of our taxpayer dollars by lowering use-of-force and lawsuits
