Saturday, December 7, we’ll take our annual 3.5-mile bird-watching walk around the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve. Expect to see hawks, grebes, pelicans, egrets, herons, avocets, curlews, dowitchers, godwits, stilts, willets, geese, and lots and lots and lots of ducks.
This one-way loop starts at Byxbee Hills Park, parallels Mayfield Slough, and winds around the Adobe Creek Loop trail on the levees to the Palo Alto Baylands.
We’ll gather at Terminal Boulevard in Palo Alto at 9am and carpool to Byxbee Hills. We’ll take our time walking and probably return to Terminal Blvd. around noon.
Bring warm clothes (be prepared for rain, too), field guides, and binoculars.
(This is not an official UUFRC event. Everyone is responsible for themselves but no one is left behind.)
