September marks the beginning of our new church year. We gather together again after our summer journeys or stay-cations, hopefully renewed by the break from our usual busy, busy schedule of so many things to do at UUFRC.
The biggest change of this church year is welcoming in our new Interim Minister, Rev. Gretchen Woods. If you haven’t yet met Gretchen and her wife, Judy, please plan to join us for a Welcome Picnic following the service on September 3rd. We’ll meet at Stafford Park at 11:45 am. Everyone is welcome. The Transitions Committee is providing sandwiches and cake. You can bring side dishes and beverages, chairs/blankets and frisbees or balls to play with.
Gretchen has wonderful ideas and plans for getting to know us and I encourage you to participate in as many of these activities as you can. Check our website (uufrc.org), read our monthly newsletter (the Redwood Reachout), listen for verbal announcements or read announcements in the blue bulletin in our Order of Service each Sunday. Check out the Minister’s bulletin board in the main foyer. We offer many ways for you to stay informed, but it’s up to each of you to take advantage of this information by looking for and utilizing it!
Gretchen brings an amazing amount of energy and joy to her ministry. I believe the next two years at UUFRC are going to be phenomenal. We are embarking on a voyage of Fellowship discovery and learning that will be revitalizing and deepening. What are you hoping for in this beloved community? What are your dreams for what we can be and what we can bring to the world? I’m looking forward to working together with all of you to see where our voyage takes us.
With gratitude for each of you, Cindy
