from our Connections Coordinator, Cindy Johnson

This is a busy, exciting fall, with so many upcoming events. I’m going to tell you about a few in case you haven’t already heard, and remind you of a few more.

Please do plan to come to Rev. Gretchen’s “Creating a Tree of Life: Story-Telling about UUFRC” gatherings on Friday, Sept 29 and Friday, October 6th. The evenings will start at 6 pm with snacks and wine and continue at 7 pm with all of us having the opportunity to share the stories we know about UUFRC. What and who have helped contribute to who we are now? We all have different perspectives and different pieces. I’m looking forward to putting the puzzle pieces of our history together.

We have an All Fellowship Work Day on Saturday, October 7th. Come and join in the work and fun of maintaining our building and grounds. We always break bread together at noon, which is an important part of the day. So come for the morning, the afternoon, or the whole day to fix and polish this building ~ our home.

On October 8th, Rev. Gretchen will be holding a “Getting to Know Unitarian Universalism” class after the service from 12 noon – 2 pm. We’ll have a light lunch available and hope that you’ll come to learn about UU history. Our faith tradition stretches back hundreds of years and it’s important to learn how we started and how we’ve come to be who we are now. Please RSVP to me by October 1st if you can join us: connecting@uufrc.org

Don’t even think about missing our Annual Silent Auction! This year’s theme is The 3 R’s: Re-Connect, ReCycle, & Re-Vitalize. There is more information in this newsletter, on the website, and in our OOS so I won’t say more than “Please Come”. I’ve only missed one in the last 15 years (last year’s broken leg) so I can attest to the fact that they are always FUN and worthwhile, and what you win provides months of additional fun as you meet with others for these activities.

Lastly, for this month, is Rev. Gretchen’s workshop on Oct. 22 at 12 pm: “Building Healthy Community.” Every community can work on becoming more healthy; we are no exception. Look for more details soon.

I am here if you have any questions. Come and talk to me. You don’t even have to have questions, really! I always enjoy talking with UUFRCers, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. My email is as above, and my number is in the website Directory.

Wishing you all a Happy Autumn, Cindy
