Fellowship Events
Several times each year, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City community makes extra time to be together, celebrate our bonds, and have a good time. These events are open to visitors and friends; Please come join us!
Don’t forget to check the Upcoming Events to see what’s currently in the works. The following are some of our yearly favorites:
Ice Cream Social and Activity Fair

Our traditional fall Ice Cream Social and Activity Fair takes place after a service in September.
Ice cream is available in the Social Hall near the Front Lounge. To avail yourself of ice cream toppings, you’ll wander around tables representing nearly every activity, event, and committee found at UUFRC. Each of these tables will be staffed with people tempting you with a different topping as well as providing information and answering any questions you may have about their particular activity. This a great way to learn about what is going on in the Fellowship, meet and greet people, and find out what you might be interested in joining this year. Plan to be with us that day, to come and eat! And learn! And volunteer! And Enjoy!
Annual Silent & Live Auction

The Silent & Live Auction is the UUFRC event of the season! There is always a wide variety of items up for bid from fresh eggs and homemade pies to stays in family vacation homes and dinner game nights and everything in-between. The auction does raise money for important UUFRC programs, but the highlight of the night is the fun time had by all! Don’t miss this well-attended event open to all members and friends of UUFRC.

Annual Fall Retreat

Held mid-November, the Annual Fall Retreat is called the heart of the Fellowship by many. This special weekend is a chance for the whole family to unplug, relax, and be in community and nature.

Holiday Craft Fair

In early December is the Holiday Craft Fair. Come support the UUFRC and Local Artists! Handmade goods by local artisans and makers! Jewelry, pottery, gift bags, cards, soap, fashion accessories, scarves, ornaments, wood crafts, food and MORE!
Christmas Lights Walk

Every year, we gather in the driveway of the Gee’s house with hot cocoa, cider and sweet treats provided by the Youth & Family Committee. Around 6pm we walk down the street where each house is lit up for the holidays. After the walk we meet back at the Gee’s for more sweets and socializing. This is a lovely event for the whole congregation. We hope you will join us.
New Year’s Eve Party

Join us for this great party…. musical acts, comedy acts, magical acts, skits, poetry, jugglers, anything goes! There will be fireworks every hour from 9 pm on till we end the party. Great food (UUFRC famous potluck), great drinks (bring your own and to share). There will be games, puzzles, and all age activities.
This will be an event you do not want to miss. So mark your calendar for December 31. We’ll start with a potluck from 6:30 to 7:30 pm and continue on into the evening, celebrating the New Year every hour on the hour from 9 pm on. Music, poetry, comedy, puzzles, games, and dancing. What better way to bring in the New Year?
Flaming Chalice Lounge

Keep an ear to the ground for these spontaneously scheduled and rollicking nights of pure entertainment. With the depth of musical talent in our congregation, this event is some of the best bang for your entertainment buck in the Bay Area. The microphone will be open for anyone who wants to share a song, a poem, a story, a joke, a reading or whatever. Each person will have 5 minutes (or 2 songs).
Annual Spaghetti Dinner
Come enjoy comfort food, engaging conversations, and great music, and support a great cause!
All the generations turn out every February to support our youth, as they put on the annual Spaghetti Dinner. Enjoy freshly prepared spaghetti & salad, plus veggies & dessert.

The first $500 of profits go toward the education of the Nepali youth Paribartan, whom UUFRC sponsors through American-Nepali Student’s and Women’s Educational Relief (ANSWER).
Paribartan is now 17 years old and in the 12th grade. He attends Higher Secondary School and is in the “science stream”. He likes science, particularly biology, and aspires to be a cardiologist. His “plan B” is to be an engineer. This is UUFRC’s 7th year sponsoring Paribartan.
Additional profits will be split among three other ANSWER funds: a scholarship fund for those whose sponsors can’t step up from $300/year to $500/year when they reach “high school,” a fund for ANSWER’s operating costs, and a fund for medical insurance for ANSWER students and their families.
Earth Day Festival

Earth Day holds special significance to Unitarian Universalists, symbolic of our Seventh principle dedicated to the interconnected web of life. At UUFRC, we hold a fun festival open to the neighborhood. Come try some activities, learn new facts, and enjoy friendly conversation on this day dedicated to our Blue Boat Home.
Fall & Spring Work Day

Whistle while you work! Every fall and spring, UUFRC holds one work day on a Saturday. These work days are critical to the upkeep of our facility. Teams work on a variety of projects, from cleaning and polishing, to drywall repair, re-tiling and more. Many hands make light work, and we need everyone to chip in! It’s a great opportunity to come together and work to maintain the building and grounds.
We always break bread together at noon, which is an important part of the day. So come for the morning, the afternoon, or the whole day to show your pride and help fix and polish this building ~ our home.
Annual Rummage Sale

Our biggest recycling event of the year is held in May. We welcome volunteers of all sizes and ages and there are many tasks to accomplish. This is your chance to get to know more people and get involved!
Year-End Potluck

In early June, UUFRC meets at nearby Stafford Park after service to enjoy potluck and conversation with each other. It is a joyous way to welcome the long days of summer with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City.
