Well here we are in another new year. I hope everyone had a good holiday season because now it is back to work. At our recent special congregational meeting we voted, overwhelmingly, to ordain Ellie Kilpatrick, so look for details on that soon.
The board along with the Transition Team will be finalizing the questionnaire you will all be asked next month for selecting a search committee for a new minister. Start thinking about who you would trust to do this important work. The commitment for the 7 people chosen will be significant. The estimate is about 400 hours each over several months as they work through a very well developed and trusted process to find us a new minister. Because of this level of commitment, those who will be on the search committee will not really be able to be heavily involved in much else at the church for that time. This may mean some changes in responsibilities for some people and the need for others to step up to fill in holes created.
For more information, see last month’s newsletter where a draft of the proposed process was included. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask any board member. The board is working out the final details of just how this process is going to work and we will publish it for all to see.
The goal is to have this process be as open, transparent and inclusive as possible while still respecting confidentiality where necessary.
Steve Hill, President of the Board
