On April 6, we’ll join Bob and Sandy Simoni for a 9-mile hike around Lake Chabot. We’ll skirt the shores of the lake with an occasional uphill climb; the highest elevation is 900 feet. We’ll see lovely views of the lake as well as wildflowers and birds. Some of the lakeshore trail is paved, but the rest runs through quiet woods with more of a backcountry feel. The contrast between the two halves of the loop makes for an interesting and enjoyable hike.
We’ll start and end our hike at the Lake Chabot Marina. If you’d like to do a shorter hike, you can turn back at any time.
Meet at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City (2124 Brewster Ave. and Lowell) a little bit before 9am to form carpools. If you want to meet us at the park, we’ll gather at the picnic tables in front of the Marina building (17930 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley) between 9:45 and 10am.
Parking is $5 per car. Dogs are allowed but you’ll be charged $2 per pooch.
Bring lunch and water.
