Adult Education Our goal at UUFRC is to offer lifespan education. We hold classes and forums throughout the year developing the same themes as the children's curriculum. In addition to exploring our UU faith and principles, in 2006-07 we focused on the eastern world religions of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. In 2007-08 we plan to address Judaism and earth-based spirituality. In 2008-09 we will focus on the New Testament.
Classes and forums are led by our minister or experienced facilitators from our membership or elsewhere. Classes usually meet once a week for 3 to 5 sessions. If you wish to suggest or teach a class, please contact our Adult RE Committee.
For current program offerings, please read the newsletter or call the UUFRC office. No fees
Classes
UU101:
Reverend Julia Older will help participants learn about the roots and history of Unitarian Universalism as well as some of our own Fellowship history. The course begins by sharing our faith journeys. We’ll also discuss committees, communication, and focus on areas of importance identified by the group. We strongly encourage participation in this class if you are interested in becoming a member.
The class will be held Monday nights, January 14, 21, and 28 from 7 to 8:30 pm. Please call the church office, or contact Cindy Johnson at 364-4995 or phreeps@pacbell.net for more information or to register.
UU201—Tracing our Unitarian and Universalist Roots:
Our intern Nina Kalmoutis will give a follow-up history class to UU101. The four-week class will look at Unitarian and Universalist history through the eyes of some of the individuals who lived that history. Each week we will hear some of the personal stories that inform the histories of these two religious traditions that merged in 1961.
The course will be offered Wednesday evenings, April 16, 23 and 30 and May 7 from 7-9 pm.
